UNDERSTANDING FEMALE HORMONES
Estrogen in Women
Maintaining balanced Estrogen levels can reduce or eliminate unpleasant symptoms of aging as women approach and enter menopause. Estrogen is actually more than one hormone, consisting of estrone, estradiol, and estriol. Estradiol is the strongest of the three estrogens and sends a signal to stimulate cell growth and deter the effects of aging. Effectiveness of hormone replacement involves more than just the right type and dose of estrogen. It’s also about delivering supplements in biorhythmic dosing schedules that restore the correct timing and peak values of Estrogen, Progesterone, and Testosterone to create an optimal female hormone cycle.
Progesterone in Women
Estrogen should never be taken without progesterone, as the progesterone blocks the Estrogen from promoting excessive cell growth. When a woman has estrogen in her system without sufficient progesterone to balance it, she becomes "estrogen dominant", which can cause unpleasant symptoms like hot flashes, fatigue, and insomnia. Perimenopausal women are frequently estrogen dominant, and progesterone is what will help alleviate their symptoms.
Testosterone in Women
Although Women only require a small amount of Testosterone, it is one of the first hormones to decline as women progress through their 30’s. Low sex drive is one of the most common complaints we hear from women with low testosterone as well as difficulty building and maintaining lean muscle mass.

What is Menopause?
Menopause is a natural decline in reproductive hormones when a woman reaches her 40s or 50s and defined as a woman not having her period for 12 months in the absence of another cause (e.g., nursing, birth control, eating disorders). This happens when ovaries stop producing large amounts of estrogen (and progesterone) and women no longer ovulate. Hormonal changes and symptoms usually begin before this happens, during a time called perimenopause.
What happens at the onset of Menopause?
The onset of menopause causes a dramatic decrease in estradiol and progesterone which can cause:
Hot Flashes: Typically last around 5+ years and can last as long as 10 years. Hot flashes effect a very large percentage of women ranging from 70-80%.
Reduction of menstrual cycles: The hallmark of menopause is the absence of a women menstrual cycle. Once a women stops ovulating, their uterine linings no longer grows or sheds.
Bloating and weight gain: Estrogen helps reduce the deposit of fatty tissue. Many women gain weight or report felling bloated during and after the menopausal transition.
Is Hormone Replace Therapy Safe?

In fact, thousands of clinical studies have been conducted on the safety and efficacy of safe, responsibly administered Hormone Replacement Therapy. All HRT Wellness Physicians are highly trained Medical Doctors, each specializing in the treatment of adults over the age of 30 who are experiencing hormone deficiencies/imbalances.
Who should consider Hormone Replacement Therapy?
Those who suffer from a hormone imbalance should seek advice at any time but typically, hormones start to decline in the mid-to-late twenties. By age 35 declines are sufficient that symptoms may be evident. The best time to start replacing hormones is between age 35 and 40. However, it is never too late.
The optimal age for treatment varies for each individual. Some are affected at a younger ages due to adverse health conditions that impact hormone balance. Symptoms of andropause, perimenopause and menopause, which occur around middle-age are usually the reason that individuals seek treatment through hormone balance.
What are the symptoms of hormone imbalance?

What are the risk of Hormone Replacement in Women?

Will my Hormone Replacement Treatment be synced with my menstrual cycle?
The female body's hormones surge and ebb as a part of a natural rhythm, controlling all endocrine function, predominantly a woman's health for reproduction. It is the circadian clock in our cells that measures one 24 hour spin of the planet. For 28 days the moon tracks the repeat of that cycle, and so does the body. We use the female body's natural rhythm of hormone production to establish the proper doses of estradiol, testosterone, and progesterone that mimic the natural hormones which would be produced by your body if you were young. The topical creams and their amounts vary throughout the 28 day cycle to restore the hormone levels of a woman in her prime because young women, for the most part, don't have heart attacks, breast cancer, Alzheimer's, osteoporosis, or type 2 diabetes.
I had a Hysterectomy, do I qualify for Therapy?
A women’s body need estrogen and progesterone. The cycle supports bone health, and brain function, the myelin coating of nerves, and supports heart health. Many of the women in our wellness program have had various forms of hysterectomies. Some still have ovaries and some do not. Women without these organs tend to need more hormone replacement because of what is missing. A woman without a uterus follows the cycle of the moon (lunar calendar) for her monthly rhythms. She has her day 12 peak on the full moon.
Will I have an increased Sex Drive?
Bio-identical Hormone therapy can help those who have problems with a decreased desire for sex.
